It's Mid-Autumn Again

The main display of the mystical Chang-Er after a face-lift, in the morning. The lighting is less harsh compared to noon time for photography, moreover, it's less humid. The month long festivities, promises to be a colorful event. Especially meaningful as it's also a Bicentennial year celebration. The mood uplifted to one of cheer from the more somber Chinese Seventh month festival which ended a few days ago. With the cessation of burning of incense, the air smells different too :)

While on the way to a free conducted heritage trail tour, paused to look at the colorful hand painted lanterns from participants of the annual lantern painting competition. Being a visual person, I am attracted to the myriad of colors. In the night when they are lighted, it would be even more beautiful.

Passed by the one of the souvenir shops which had these paper made lanterns on display. Remembered I had one that was quite similarly made, but in the design of a dragon. In the middle there is a holder for a lighted candle. Nowadays, it's more likely to be powered by a bulb, instead a candle :)
