Short Trip to Penang

Went for a short Trip to Penang recently, sizing upon the offer of the reasonable air-fare plus hotel package. This is Lorong Baru, the street scene a short walk away from the hotel. After a short rest immediately came out to savor the street hawker food. It was early evening but already the seats were occupied and we had to adjourn to a nearby coffee-shop. Indulged in some of the popular Penang food like "Or Jian" (Fried Oyster), Fried Kway Teow and Poh Piah. After wich explored the many streets and Lorongs in the area to work off the calories :)

The street hawker stalls here are liked a mini version of the  "夜食" or night street food in Taiwan; which stretches the entire street. There were two Fried Oyster stalls here, tried both, one was better then the other. No price for guessing right, it was the one with the long queue.

There are other stalls we did not try as there were no more space in our stomachs to store even though they were so tempting ;)

Did not try this dessert stall even though the weather was quite humid. Maybe we leave that for future trip here.

  1. Wow, that must have been a nice trip. I last went there some 20 years ago! Love it there. Life was like slower there. But guess it must have picked up a lot today.

  2. Indeed I was there in the late eighties also, only re-visited it this month. There are developments here and there but generally many places are still like Singapore in the sixties. It does have a charm of it's own though and I enjoyed the trip :)
